Content includes

DAY 1:
This workshop begins with a deep dive into the world of catheter technologies, Exploring the vast range of designs and applications available on the market. Highlighting the possibilities that exist, in order to open your understanding into what is possible. We then break down the key foundations of the tri-layer catheter construct catheter over 3 modules, segregating the critical layers of a device, the inner liners, the reinforcement layer and outer polymer layer.
  • What is an Advanced Catheter and Where They are Used
This section focuses on the definition and application of advanced catheters. Participants will learn about the various types of catheters that exist, their specific uses in medical procedures, and the importance of their design in different medical fields such as cardiology, urology, and neurology.
  • Inner Layer/Liner Material Options and Production Paths
This section explores the materials used for the inner most layer of a tri layer catheters, such as PTFE, FEP and PI. The session will delve into the properties of these materials, their suitability for different applications, and the manufacturing processes involved in integrating these crucial components.
  • Reinforcement Technologies
In this session, attendees will learn about the reinforcement technologies used in catheter design, including braiding, coiling, and laser cut components. The focus will be on how these technologies enhance the strength, flexibility, and overall performance of catheters.
  • Polymer Identification and Integration
This section covers the use and integration of various polymers in catheter construction, such as Pebax and Nylon. Participants will gain knowledge about the selection criteria for polymers, their properties, and how they are integrated into catheter designs for optimal performance based on intended use.

DAY 2:
On day 2, we bring the lessons from the first day together and explore the full production path based on current leading paths, alongside a fully automated process. Once complete, we next need to understand what additive or post processes are available. For this, we bring you through a vast range of over 74 post processing methods, spanning from skiving, punching, cutting, bonding, adhesives, etching, molding, stamping, coating and mandrel removal.
  • Catheter Manufacturing Process
Attendees will be introduced to the step-by-step process of manufacturing catheters. The session will cover the various stages of production, from prototype scale to large scale and automated mass production.
  • Additive Catheter Processes
This section focuses on value added processes in catheter production, such as tipping, cutting, skiving, bonding, balloon attachment and many more. It will explore how these technologies are revolutionising catheter design and production, allowing for more customisation and innovation.
  • Advanced Catheter Design
This Section uses all the learnings from the previous chapters to show and demonstrate how various catheter designs are created, such as steerable, ablation, cardiac, RX and neurological catheters, alongside many more. Participants will learn about the latest design methodologies, the integration of new materials and technologies, and how these contribute to the functionality and safety of the catheters.
  • Design Development Cycle & Emerging Trends
The final chapter focuses on the design development cycle of catheters, from concept to production. It also covers emerging trends in the medical device industry, including new materials, technologies, equipment, and design approaches that are shaping the future of catheter development.

Now armed with the material understanding and process knowhow, we then explore 18 various catheter design variations from steerable, scoped, neurological, GI, ablation and various balloon, valve and stent delivery designs. Giving you insights that would be previously impossible to obtain in a single lifetime. We then finish the workshop with an exciting and animation packed chapter on the insights and trends that are influencing the industry.
