DAY 1:
- What is an Advanced Catheter and Where They are Used
This section focuses on the definition and application of advanced catheters. Participants will learn about the various types of catheters that exist, their specific uses in medical procedures, and the importance of their design in different medical fields such as cardiology, urology, and neurology.
- Inner Layer/Liner Material Options and Production Paths
This section explores the materials used for the inner most layer of a tri layer catheters, such as PTFE, FEP and PI. The session will delve into the properties of these materials, their suitability for different applications, and the manufacturing processes involved in integrating these crucial components.
- Reinforcement Technologies
In this session, attendees will learn about the reinforcement technologies used in catheter design, including braiding, coiling, and lasercut components. The focus will be on how these technologies enhance the strength, flexibility, and overall performance of catheters.
- Polymer Identification and Integration
This section covers the use and integration of various polymers in catheter construction, such as Pebax and Nylon. Participants will gain knowledge about the selection criteria for polymers, their properties, and how they are integrated into catheter designs for optimal performance based on intended use.
DAY 2:
- Catheter Manufacturing Process
Attendees will be introduced to the step-by-step process of manufacturing catheters. The session will cover the various stages of production, from prototype scale to large scale and automated mass production.
- Additive Catheter Processes
This section focuses on value added processes in catheter production, such as tipping, cutting, skiving, bonding, balloon attachment and many more. It will explore how these technologies are revolutionizing catheter design and production, allowing for more customization and innovation.
This Section uses all the learnings from the previous chapters to show and demonstrate how various catheter designs are created, such as steerable, ablation, cardiac, RX and neurological catheters, alongside many more. Participants will learn about the latest design methodologies, the integration of new materials and technologies, and how these contribute to the functionality and safety of the catheters.
- Design Development Cycle & Emerging Trends
The final chapter focuses on the design development cycle of catheters, from concept to production. It also covers emerging trends in the medical device industry, including new materials, technologies, equipment, and design approaches that are shaping the future of catheter development.
